Hi,

I'm having an issue with a document/page that I uploaded to Confluence and would appreciate some guidance.

I accidentally uploaded/created the wrong parent page and would now like to delete it since I uploaded it again but under the correct location.

However, I'm currently unable to find an option to delete the document/page. Since I uploaded/created the content myself, I thought I would have permission to delete my own content, but it seems that I may not have the necessary permissions in this particular space.

Could you please advise me on the following:

  • How can I delete a document/page that I have uploaded or created myself?
  • Is there a specific permission I need in order to do this?
  • If I don't currently have the required permission, who should I contact to have the document/page deleted or to request the appropriate access?
  • Would this normally be handled by the Space Administrator, or who should I contact?

Thank you in advance!

HI @Alice Brissman

If you can't delete it, this is related to permissions.

You don't have been grated delete permission on attachments on the space.

Reach out to the Space Administrator or to the Confluence administrator to help you out on deleting the item or to grant you permissions.

Hi @Alice Brissman

assuming you are working on a Data Center environment, there is no distinction between deleting own content and deleting any content in the space. You need the "delete page" permission in order to do so.

Space Permissions Overview | Confluence Data Center 10.2 | Atlassian Documentation

If the "Delete" option is not available in the more options ... menu, you do not have the permission in said space.

Delete or Restore a Page | Confluence Data Center 10.2 | Atlassian Documentation

Space Admins will most likely have the permission, can assign you the permission or find a person who has the permission. A Jira Admin could also help.

As we as Community members cannot access your Confluence instance, we can't tell you who these people are for your company or the specific space.

In case you are on Cloud, the only difference is that there are two separate permissions for deleting your own content or all content, if your site has been switched to Confluence roles already. See What are Confluence's roles? | Confluence Cloud | Atlassian Support
You still need a role assigned in that space that has that permission.
