Default disable 'Watch this page' for page comments

dnieuwkamp October 4, 2024

When I want to add a comment to a page (page comment), by default the option 'watch this page' is enabled. Since I have to make comment on a lot of pages without keep getting notifications, I would like to have this 'watch this page' option default disabled. Is this possible?

Hi @dnieuwkamp welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You can follow these steps:

  • Go to your Profile:

    • Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner.
    • Select Profile from the dropdown menu.
  • Access Watch Settings:

    • In your profile menu, select Settings.
  • Email Notifications and Watches:

    • Scroll down to the Email Settings or Watches section.
    • Find the setting labeled Watch pages I create or comment on (or a similar label depending on your version of Confluence).
  • Disable the Option:

    • Uncheck the box next to Watch pages I comment on to prevent automatic watching when you leave a comment.
  • Save Changes:

    • Click Save or close the settings after making the change.

Hello @Dave Mathijs

Thank you for the instructions, but I didn't managed to follow these steps. When I click on my picture, a drop-down appears. In this drop-down there is a 'Profile' option under the subtitle 'Confluence' when I clicked this option, I get an overview page of my own page with sections like 'Worked on' and 'Places you work in'. There is no 'Settings' option.

From the drop-down there is also an option 'Personal Settings'. From that page there is a menu option 'Email'. Here is a screenshot of that option:

Is this the place where I can adjust the right setting?
