Confluence was re-enabled, but all previous data is missing. Need help restoring old spaces and page

Hello,

I need help understanding whether our previous Confluence data can still be recovered, and if so, how to do it.

Context:
We had been using Confluence normally for a long time on our site asambleadedios.atlassian.net. At some point, Confluence suddenly became unavailable. When trying to access Confluence, including /wiki and existing space URLs, we were getting this error:

“(null)
Encountered a ‘null - null’ error while loading this page.
Go to Jira home”

At the same time, Confluence no longer appeared as an available product for the site. We could only see Jira Administration and Jira.

When we tried to add/install Confluence again, we got this message:

“Unable to add app. This can happen when a site is behind on payments. Try reviewing Atlassian Administration, and if you're still having trouble contact support.”

After that, I contacted support and also added a payment method in Atlassian Administration, even though our site is on the free plan. After those actions, Confluence became available again.

However, now the Confluence site is empty and all our previous spaces and pages appear to be gone.

What I need to know is:

  1. Is it still possible to recover the old Confluence data?
  2. Is it possible that Confluence was re-enabled as a new empty instance instead of restoring the original one?
  3. If the old spaces and pages are still recoverable, how can we restore them?

I already tried the following checks:

  • Checked Confluence administration > Data management > Trashed spaces
  • Opened the remaining spaces and checked Space settings > Content > Trash
  • Checked admin.atlassian.com > Data management > Backups, but the Backups option is not shown for us

One example of a previous Confluence URL that used to work is:
https://asambleadedios.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PA/overview

Could you please confirm whether the previous Confluence data is still recoverable, and if yes, what exact steps are available to restore it?

Thank you.

Hello @Mi CASA Asamblea de Dios Monte Grande

The article provided by @Dan Breyen applies to Jira, while your issue concerns Confluence.

Can you go to Confluence Administration and select Spaces, and check the Active, Archived, and Trashed lists to see if your spaces are listed?

If they are in Archived you can un-Archive them. If they are in Trashed, you can restore them.

If they are in Active and you can't see them, then the permissions have gotten messed up and need to be fixed.

If they are not in any of the folders, you will need to contact Atlassian support to ask what happened to your data and and ask for their help in restoring the data. If you are on a Free plan you won't be able to open a support case, but we can flag your post here to raise it to the attention of Atlassian Team Members.

Let us know if you see your spaces in Active, Archived, or Trashed.

Hi @Mi CASA Asamblea de Dios Monte Grande if it has been less than 60 days, I believe your data is retrievable.

Check out this Community Article regarding the restore: how-to-retrieve-deleted-projects

Hope that helps.
