Confluence to run on port 80

Imran Ali April 16, 2019

Hi Team,

I am having problems to run my new confluence instance on port 80,
I was using this with port 80 earlier but due to server crash issue , I have to rebuild server again but this 6.15 version is not working with port 80. ( I have modified server.xml but still site is not coming up on port 80)

Hi Imran,

What operating system are you running? We don't recommend running Confluence on port 80 in Linux as it would require Tomcat to run as root, which is a security risk. Instead, we recommend running Confluence behind a reverse proxy such as Apache or nginx (setup guides here).

The active connectors in your server.xml file would also be helpful to troubleshoot anything you're currently trying to do.

Cheers,
Daniel

Thanks Daniel for your reply,

Yes you are right to use reverse proxy but I just wonder as this was working fine earlier without any reverse proxy.

anyways , I will add RP now
