Confluence stuck chewing up 100% of remaining CPU

The logs appear to be filling up with line after line of:

[3255169.223s][debug][gc,age] GC(604628) Desired survivor size 2097152 bytes, new threshold 15 (max threshold 15)

 

I took a look into what this means and it seems to be Java’s garbage collection not being configured quite right. How do we resolve
