Confluence page: How to enable list view, rather than docs appearing as icons.

When I attach documents to a page, I am not able to view the page in a list mode. The document appear as white icons by default. I would like to make the list view the default.

I am able to go to attachments and there I find them listed there, but how can I make the pages show the list without navigating around.

You can use the attachments macro on a page to show all the attachments to that page. Below is how the page looks in edit mode.
