Confluence email address link - how to avoid blank webpage?

To link to an email address, I choose Link > Web Link then enter the email address.  The email app opens, but so does a blank, untitled webpage.  Is there a workaround?

Hi @Wendy Emerman,

have you tried a link like this: mailto:abc.def@xyz.de ?

Hi @Thomas Schlegel

Yes.  The email address entered using the Link>Web Link function is converted to that format.

I typed the link directly on the page with the "mailto:" format, and it, too, opens a blank web page along with the email app.

@Wendy Emerman - I tried this also with my Cloud-instance. Everything's fine, there's no new empty web page.

Which browser do you use? Do you have any browser add-on? Can you please have a look at the source code of the confluence page? Is there something like "target=..."?

@Thomas SchlegelThank you!  I tested in both Chrome and Internet Explorer, and you are right, the links work properly.  I was testing the link in edit mode, where the "go-to-link" test opens an empty webpage along with the email page - I never tested the link on the published page!  Thanks, again, for sticking with me til I figured this out!

You're welcome, @Wendy Emerman - great that you found the reason!
