Confluence doesn't send notification to group users

We are using Confluence as a communication channel (too). Some blogs are mandatory to watch. We cannot rely on that people sign up themselves 100% and we want to secure a hassle free administration of users. We have therefore created users linked to a group email address, e.g "all-engineers@company.com" to make all engineers get notified when there's a new blog post. It has worked like a clock until now. From this Monday there are no notifications sent for people who are in group (email address), only if they have signed up separately themselves.

A) Have you done any changes recently?

B) Is there a better way to secure that people are watchers? We cannot sit and add user by users in our many spaces. (And of course, content is king so they would want to watch even if they wasn't force added).

Hi Malin,

I tend to assume you are using Confluence Cloud since you asked whether we made any changes. I have not seen a flurry of tickets for people not receiving notifications so I cannot connect your case to a known issue.

You are using the recommended workaround for Cloud (creating a dummy user with a group email address) as documented on Ability to notify a group when a page blog or space is changed (group watches) 

If by chance you are hosting your own Confluence server you also have the option of using a plugin to add groups as watchers: Better Blogs for Confluence

I hate to advise you to spam everyone but is there a way we can test the email address you are using for the group to see if it is still working when an email is sent to it from some other source besides Confluence? (Like just your phone or desktop?)

Dear Ann,
Thanks for speedy and detailed reply. Yes, it is Cloud. 
I assume our problem has to do with Google and the address settings then. No forwarding to any group email addresses works since Monday. If you have signed up as watcher yourself it works.
