according to https://confluence.atlassian.com/confcloud/confluence-wiki-markup-938044804.html#ConfluenceWikiMarkup-markdown
this:
h1. Main Heading
should create a heading but it doesn't. any idea?
It looks like there was an unannounced change from Markup to Markdown for the editor autoformatting. I just spent hours looking into this only to find the easy to miss blue notice about the change here (Cloud version):
The page was last edited on June 5, 2018. I don't know if that is around the time the change was made. I last tried using hN. autoformatting many months ago and it worked.
It appears that Control/Cmd + Shift + D editor pane is required to enter Wiki Markup now. And I found no Settings option to toggle between the syntaxes in the main editor. In fact, the Settings -> Editor option still says Markup for autoformat, not Markdown.
I'm just curious how did they decide on the Control/Cmd + Shift + D shortcut? As it is already used by all major browsers and doesn't get passed down to confluence.
Was this even tested?
Edit: grammar

Hi Jan,
on Confluence Cloud for choosing a headline style you can use the "'#" inline (or the shortcuts) So typing "# Heading" will for example convert the text to a H1 heading. I also tried the "Insert Markup" option and there it worked with "h1. Heading". Just a minute ago. Could you please try and see what happens when you enter "# Test heading" into the editor? If none of the options above work (except choosing a style from the menu) I suggest opening a support ticket.
Best, Max

Is it working when you choose it manually from editor menu (not by using autoconvert to heading). Which version of Confluence are you using? Did you tried on a different browser?
