Want to understand the process for migrating an existing, no-longer-under-support Confluence 3.5.7 server to Cloud.  We are using Jira in the cloud but left Confluence behind.

The docs imply that the app will migrate 5.1 server and above only.

Other references about migrating in space-by-space also imply that only a 5.1 and above backup of a space can be imported.

What would be the process to get to Cloud?  I hope it's not "expend a ton of effort to upgrade server version to 5.1 then run app"?

thanks.

The data exported from 3.x is in no way compatible with Cloud.  You are going to have to upgrade it to at least 5.1.

However, the higher you can go before migrating, the better.  I'd recommend going past 5.1, to at least 6.0 (after 6.0 there's no huge benefit in going to the latest version - Cloud is effectively based on 6.x)

Thanks Nic. We will find out how painful that upgrade will be in terms of both effort and (hopefully zero) license cost.
