Confluence Multiple Network Interfaces IP

Rafal Niznik

Hi People,

Currently I  run confluence and jira on that same server
This server hosts two network interfaces with different IPs but on that same network.
All connections to Confluence are pointed to first IP 192.168.1.10
All connections to Jira pointed to second IP 192.168.1.20

Now...  Confluence is set to use external LDAP server to authenticate users but when I look in to Firewall logs it looks like connection is coming out from IP 192.168.1.20

Question:

How to setup Confluence so LDAP will use first IP 192.168.1.10

Thanks for advice

Raf

Hello Rafal,

You may certainly run Jira and Confluence on the same server. If I may ask, what is the reason for needing to run Jira and Confluence from different interfaces on the machines? Ideally, you would have both on the same IP but with different ports.

Example
Jira.server.com:8080 (192.168.1.10:8080)
Confluence.server.com:8090 (192.168.1.10:8090)

This would also allow you to have LDAP communicate to both Jira and Confluence using the same interface.

If running Windows, this would allow you to configure your two interfaces into a team. Please see the following for Windows NIC teaming.

Running Jira and Confluence on the same server will work, but as your team grows you may notice performance issues. It is suggested to review the Jira and Confluence sizing documentation to ensure you have optimal performance using the Atlassian tools.
