Confluence Macros stopped working

This appears to be a problem that comes and goes. Its not quite clear to me yet what the conditions are. But sometimes I cannot get Confluence Macros to work.

In a page, the "Other Macros" menu item does not display the Macros dialog.

It has worked at sometime since existing pages with macros I cannot edit. For example the expand macro on a page does not display its edit dialog when I select edit on the macro when that page is in edit mode.

I have seen resolutions in the past but I forgot to make a note of them and since then I cannot find them. So, this time, I will make a note.

Yes, I have restarted, tried various browsers, sacrificed a chicken.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I knew it. As soon as I type publish it starts working again. Just tried it in FF instead of chrome again and this time the menu appears.

Does anyone know what is going on?
