Hi everyone, I am looking for some guidance on two questions related to Confluence database tables:
1) Is there a way to prevent accidental editing in Confluence database table without making the entire database read‑only? Right now, anyone with edit access can click directly on any field and change it immediately, there’s no Edit button, no Save button, and no confirmation step.
2) Is there a way to receive real‑time notifications when Confluence database tables are updated? I already enabled “Watch this space”, and I do receive page update notifications, but I am not receiving any notifications for database table changes (new rows, edits, etc.).
Thanks!
We have the same situation @Saranya Sankaranarayanan and I've asked for a similar solution. I've JUST found some of our records have been accidentally deleted...
Feature Enhancement - "Edit mode" and "View Mode"
Thanks for the suggestion @Dave Mathijs but as Saranya points out we already have this in place and solves only half the issue.
Hi @Saranya Sankaranarayanan welcome to the Atlassian Community Forums!
There are no 'granular permissions' for databases in Confluence Cloud
The lock structure feature helps safeguard your database fields from accidental changes while allowing users to add and edit data entries.
How to lock your database structure
••• (More) menu at the top right corner of the database.Once enabled, no one will be able to add new fields or modify existing field settings unless the Lock structure feature is turned off. However, users with editing access can toggle this lock on or off at any time, making it a convenient safeguard against accidental structural changes.
There are no notifications for database table changes in Confluence Cloud.

Thanks @Dave Mathijs for the explanation. The Lock Structure feature is definitely helpful for preventing changes to the database schema.
However, one concern I still have is that anyone with edit access can click into a field and change its value, and the change is saved automatically without any confirmation (like a “Save” or “Apply” button). This makes it quite easy for users to edit data accidentally.
Is this behaviour something that’s planned to be improved, or is it on the road map? any idea?
Also, regarding notifications for database table changes, do you happen to know if this is expected in any future releases? It would be really useful for tracking updates.
Thanks!
