Confluence Database Maintenance

What database maintenance is required to keep Confluence running optimally e.g. index reorganize and update statistics daily, index rebuild weekly? Do the Confluence services need to be stopped during the database maintenance process? We are running SQL Server 2016 SP2.

Hi Dallas,

MS SQL comes with a maintenance plan wizard that guides database administrators through setting up the tasks needed to optimize MS SQL databases. Maintenance plans vary depending on the preferences of the DBAs. I have to defer to your database administrator to ask whether Confluence could access the database as usual during MS SQL maintenance. If the maintenance plan includes operations that take the MS SQL databases off line or make them temporarily unreliable then a Confluence maintenance window would be called for during these tasks. 

Confluence doesn't have any special requirements for database optimization. Whatever basic maintenance keeps the database healthy will work for Confluence.
