Word Import Challenges for Large-Scale Migration to Confluence Cloud

Background

We are migrating 500+ existing Word documents to Confluence Cloud pages and encountering several issues with the native Word import functionality.

Question

Has anyone successfully implemented a robust solution for bulk importing large volumes of Word documents (500+ pages) into Confluence Cloud?

Current Issues with Native Word Import

We're experiencing the following problems:

1. Tables and Images

   • Import process ignores the original size/width of tables and images
   • Requires manual adjustment of every table and image post-import

2. Text Formatting

   • Word text highlight colors are lost during import
   • Font colors are not preserved

3. Table of Contents

   • TOC includes page titles in addition to headings
   • Any text formatted with heading styles (even if not actual headings) appears in the Confluence page TOC
   • Need TOC limited to true headings only

4. HTML Import Alternative

   • HTML import feature doesn't work properly
   • Requires creating a new space for every import
   • Adds unknown/unwanted characters to pages

Looking For

• Marketplace apps: Are there enhanced Word import solutions that perform better than the native Cloud Confluence import?
• Best practices: Strategies or workflows others have used for large-scale document migration
• Automation: Scripts or tools that have proven effective

Yeah... The current limitation with the native feature is that you can import only one file at a time. There's a feature request for doing bulk imports: CONFCLOUD-81572: Bulk Import External Documents into Confluence Cloud 

Now, as for importing large-scale documents, I haven't seen any best solution (although I haven't imported that many large Word documents).
As you've said, a potential solution could be Marketplace apps, but I haven't tested any of those listed here.

I did hear about people custom importers/solutions by using Confluence REST API, but this would probably require significant effort and tech expertise 🤔
