Hi!
Confluence content Analytics show user engagement with two values:

  • Brief - less than 20s
  • Engaged - more than 20s

One user might have multiple views as showed in "Views" column.

Is the engagement calculated on total time based on the views count or only for the last viewed time?

Thanks, I've read all the official docs, and none of them seem to give clear answer.

However, based on my experiments, I can say that engagement is not simply the sum of time spent viewing the content. For example, 5 seconds x 30 views still shows as "Brief". However, if you spend more than 20 seconds and it shows as "Engaged", it remains that way. This suggests that engagement is also not based on the last view, but rather checks whether the user has spend more than 20 seconds on the page at least once.
