Configurable auto-correct when typing

Over the years I have developed a kind of shorthand for typing using Autocorrect.  It started with Microsoft Office, and I have replicated it in Google Docs.  Now that my employer is migrating documentation to Confluence I feel like I've had several fingers amputated.  It's driving me nuts, especially when I make typos in words I shouldn't have to type in the first place!

For example, I might type: wnv compld confign is depld to prodn v devrs wb able to access v iface 

And auto-correct would fix it to say: When the completed configuration is deployed to production the developers will be able to access the interface

It saves an enormous amount of time and helps my fingers keep pace with my thoughts.  Wo it I'm crippled, so I've bn typing in Google vn pasting into Confluence n doing v fmtg vr.

Is auto-correct on v road-map?  Cd it b?

Wow, that's a really clever way to save time and increase productivity when writing out documents! I wouldn't have thought to do that.

Unfortunately, Confluence doesn't have an autocorrect or spellcheck feature, besides autocorrecting the spelling and capitalization of our own products. See this Community thread "Deactivate Autocorrect" for details on that.

We had a feature request for including the base functionality, but it has been closed as we don't intend to implement it. The reason being is that browsers have their own autocorrect built-in. You can find the request below:

You can try and see if your browser offers the ability to make customizations with its own autocorrect feature. But for your information, I had a look at Chrome as an example, and it appears that the very least, Chrome does not offer this feature. I'm not sure about the other browsers, so I would recommend having a look.

The workaround you mentioned that you use in Office is very similar to the functionality of apps like Text Expander. I know there are some free alternatives; perhaps one would work for you across your entire system? Some examples are below:

Hi Mark,

My reading of Shannon's reply was that there is no work on Atlassian's roadmap for this, and the lack of any follow-up on the topic suggests that the situation hasn't changed.

In fact the amount of active event code executed in the editor pretty much rules out any third party text-box auto-correct solution, so progress on this front seems even more remote than before.

I compose my confluence content in a Google Doc and paste it into the Confluence editor.
