Is there a way to change the edit button's functionality so it launches the editing application instead of acting like a drop down?

My goal is to have less clicks.

Hello Jonathan,

Firstly, thank you for being a Community Leader.

From your request, I was able to find a similar feature request which is focusing on the same issue you’re communicating (reduce the amount of clicks/work) to edit files faster. You may find this feature request at CONFSERVER-57419. If this is similar to your issue we would suggest voting for this request and selecting watch to receive future updates.

Another option would be to create a customization script which would replace the click on edit to default to edit with excel. The issue with this would be editing other office docs would attempt to open them within excel.

Regards,
Stephen Sifers

Hi @Stephen Sifers ,

I read over the feature request and it didn't seem that similar to what I am requesting. I would like the "on click" of Edit to open the target application and not act like a drop down. This would be for any files within the attachments view or any file list page.

Please make a new feature request or update 57419 to include this request.

Thanks,

Jonathan
