We're trying to gather detailed analytics on our Confluence (7.3.1) environment. I know we can enable the tomcat access logs to get the search query parameters, but that adds a good amount of overhead to the server and the logs quickly grow. We also don't have budget to purchase any plugins (I know eazyBI says it captures this data) so please don't recommend that approach.
We're looking at another approach with click monitoring like Google Analytics. We don't want this data going outside of our network though so I've set up a Matomo server as a POC. I've added the javascript via the Custom HTML --> End of HEAD section and am seeing data in Matomo now. The problem I'm running into is the search data is only being captured on the advanced search page. Looks like the quick search that pops up doesn't trigger the JS. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to capture the data from the quick search modal or have suggestions on how to configure this? Any other suggested approaches on how to gather search analytics data?
