Hello folks! I am curious if anyone else has noodled the differences between the child and page tree widgets. I've been using /child for ever, but the drawback was always it didn't update automatically.
My manager shared with me that Page Tree exists and it DOES update as pages are added.
Are there other differences between the two that I'm unaware of? Also, why wouldn't /child update automagically?
@Lauren Church The only difference I can think of is that the Children Display Macro allows you to limit the displayed pages to only children without descendants while the Page Tree Macro will show all pages below the parent page, no matter how deep they are in the Page Tree structure.
Your situation with the newer child pages not display in the macro is strange. As a staunch user of the Page Tree Macro I never noticed this behavior, but upon reading your post tested it and I am experiencing the same issue. I searched (briefly) in JAC and cannot seem to find a related bug report.
@Andy Gladstone Thanks for the thoughtful reply!! It is nice to know that it's not just me!
I suppose it is worth reporting, unless it's not a bug but a feature! 🙃
