Chart macro - data attachment

Rufus John August 27, 2021

Hello,

The link below says " Add the Chart macro to a page to display a chart based on data in a table on the same page, or from an attached file."

However the detailed explanation is only for table data and not for data in attached file. How can I use chart macro for data in an attachment? I think it will greatly reduce space used in a page if all tables for the chart can be sourced from an attachment.

Not looking for add-ons as a solution.

Thanks in advance,

Rufus

Hi @Rufus John ,

I guess you can't build a chart using an attachment and a standard Chart macro. If you put an Excel macro in the Chart macro body, the table won't be recognized. When I copy the same table from the excel file inside the macro body manually, only then I can see my graph.

What concerns the Chart macro and attachments, I found only this abstract about attachments - the generated image is allowed to be saved as an attachment and further re-used.

So, I think your case won't be implemented without a 3rd-party apps. As a representative of a Stiltsoft team, I can suggest trying our Table Filter and Charts for Confluence app and its Chart from Table macro. It recognizes the standard Excel macro and CSV/JSON attachments/URL paths.
