Hello,

we have a very strange and annoying bug in the new editor.

Every-time, when I write a capital P, the 3 dots pop-up opens and I have to manually move with the mouse courser and click to my last letter to be able to write again.

How can I disable this, as this is so extremely annoying, that I have started to copy & paste capital "P" now and it makes the work so much slower.

Best regards

Hi @Florian Schmid ,

In the editor, at the bottom left, you can see the ‘?’ icon with a link to ‘Editing keyboard shortcuts’, but there’s nothing mentioned about ‘Shift + P’.
https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/keyboard-shortcuts-markdown-and-autocomplete/

There’s not even a reference to the action menu, so my guess is that one of the installed apps is using a keyboard shortcut to access the contentAction.
https://developer.atlassian.com/platform/forge/manifest-reference/keyboard-shortcuts/

Depending on how many apps you have installed, I’d suggest turning them off one by one (and refreshing the page each time) to identify which app is causing the issue. Once you find it, you can contact that Marketplace Partner to have it fixed or updated.

Maybe it’s a new feature introduced in one of the installed apps. You can try checking the release notes of your installed apps.

Alternatively, it could be an older feature that stopped working when the new editor was introduced, so the cause and effect might be mixed.

@Florian Schmid I did some digging, at least 1 app can break it: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1230784/count-for-confluence?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

I've installed it and I expierience the same issue

Hi,

wow, thank you very much for debugging.

I will have a look, if we have this app or similar apps installed.

Hello Lucas,

it was indeed this app or a similar one, which had exactly this feature.

Shift + P to count the words.

I have disabled and removed the app and now I can type "P" again.

Thank you so much for all of your help!

Great to hear it worked!

PS. I also shared feedback with the app vendor during uninstall, so hopefully they’ll update it with a different shortcut soon. 😊

Hey there @Florian Schmid ,

Just tested this on a MacOS laptop with all 4 supported browsers (Safari, Edge, Firefox and Chrome) and could not reproduce the issue you reported.

Also, we did not receive any similar reports from other Customers, so this is likely a localized environment issue.

Given multiple browsers are presenting the same behavior for multiple users, this could be caused by a Network setting applied to your entire company.

A few worthy tests:

  • disable all browser extensions and test again
  • disable or bypass any VPNs, Firewalls, Proxies or other Network appliances such as Zscaler
  • try and log in to Confluence from another computer (personal laptop) - you can create a Free Confluence site if access to your corporate site is restricted

PS: it looks like you have a Premium subscription, so the best approach would be opening a Support ticket so a troubleshooting session can be scheduled.

Hope this helps!  =]

Hi,

thank you very much for your help.

I will check that, too.

When I'm not able to find anything, I will create a ticket and ask there for deeper debugging.

Hello,

thank you very much for your fast answers.

All our users have this problem using different browsers like Firefox, Chrome and Safari.

Clearing the cache or cookies doesn't help.

This has suddenly started a few month ago with the new editor.

We don't have a lot of apps installed or activated. especially none in the last months, where this problem has started.

Hi @Florian Schmid

Can you clear your cache and cookies or try another browser.

Or check you shortcuts on your device.

I created a new page and typing p or capital P is not activating the 3 dot option.

I have tested this on multiple Confluence instances and when creating pages in multiple instances, but "p" never activates the 3dot option.

Hi @Florian Schmid

It can be an app as ootb this is not happing, see suggestion from @Lucas Modzelewski _Lumo_

I just spinnend a new free tier and your actions don't occur in a vanilla instance of Confluence.
