Can confluence5.10 be upgraded to confluence6.8?
The confluence I am using now is version 5.8. I want to upgrade to version 6.8. My upgrade steps are as follows:
1. Backup attachments image directory
2. Back up the mysql database
Then import the backup data into the confluence 6.8 version to restore the data, is this OK?

Hi Zhang,

You're on the right track. We do recommend that you backup your attachments directory as well as the MySQL database, but our recommended upgrade procedure is to use the installer, if possible. Our upgrade procedure is listed at Upgrading Confluence.

You can choose to upgrade using the installer, or manually using a zip or tar.gz file. In most cases the installer is the easiest way to upgrade your Confluence instance.

You will not be able to use the installer method and will need to upgrade manually if:

  • you are moving to another operating system or file location as part of this upgrade.
  • you are upgrading from Confluence 3.5 or earlier
  • you are upgrading from Confluence 5.6 or earlier and previously used the EAR/WAR distribution to deploy Confluence into an existing application server.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.

Regards,

Shannon
