Can attachments on a page be moved automatically to a child page?

Hi All

I have a page with a lot of attachments (100+) which are neatly listed as belonging to a month of a year. 

However, after 2 years these columns where the attachments are listed are growing longer and longer meaning scrolling to the next section after the column is getting tidious.

I would like to archive the attachments on a child page (ideally one that is being created automatically) after ie. 6 months.

This would shorten the columns and give the main page a greater look.

Is that possible?

I'm not exactly sure of all your attachment needs but we have a handy tool for managing attachments in bulk called Attachment Manager that might save you time as you try to reorganize some attachments.

If the main issue is page length rather than where the files live, another option is to split the content by month or year and use the Include Page macro to surface only the current period on the main page. Older months stay on child pages, but users can still navigate to them when needed.

Hi @Christoffer Rosenkrands, automation can't do that part. Confluence automation has no attachment action at all, and the copy page docs spell out that attachments don't come along with a copied page either. Nothing can fire on a file turning six months old.

The move is native but manual. On the page use Show details in the floating toolbar, then Attachments, then Properties next to the file, and type the child page's name into the Page field. You need add content plus add and remove attachment permissions in the space. Expect to rebuild the list on the child page yourself, since a moved file lands in the destination's attachments view without being embedded on it.

If a shorter page is really the goal, put each older month inside an Expand macro. The files stay put and nothing breaks.
