Can I point a 6.15 install to a database that was created by 5.10?

xil355 April 23, 2019

I just want to know of a database created by a 5.10 install would work with 6.15, if I pointed to it.

Another side question - has there been any database structural changes between 5.10 and 6.15? Would 6.15 know that it's a database from 5.10 and make changes as needed?

A bit of history - the 5.10 install was originally on a Windows server, and the new 6.15 install is on Linux. The database is MSSQL, which is on a completely different server from those 2.

Hi @xil355 ,

it will definitely know that the database is created by an older version and update it.

You should make a backup and test the update in a testing environment.

Have a closer look at the this page for more information: Upgrading Confluence .

Will attachments/assets from 5.10 be changed at all? We are planning to copy those over to the 6.15 install as-is.

I think, this should work. Of course, you have to re-index after the upgrade.

But please, test it first in an testing environment!
