Automation to add new page to existing database?

Elise Cole November 12, 2024

Hello! I was wondering if it's possible to do the following with a Confluence automation rule:

If a new page is published, then create entry in existing database with link to page.

If not through an automation rule, is there another way to do this? I'd ideally like the database to keep track of any new pages made in a space.

I don't think it is possible, because:

  1. There is no automation action available to manipulate databases.
  2. There is no REST API for database content. There is a limited REST API resource to created/update/delete databases, but not their content. (If there was a corresponding REST API provided, you could use the "Send web request" automation action to manipulate the database.)

Thank you for your response!
That's unfortunate to hear, but good to know what is currently supported. Hopefully it's something they can add in the future. :)

I agree, would be a great addition in the future, as getting the team to remember to great a new page through the database is a challenge.
