We are using Confluence as our primary internal documentation system. We would like to add some seats for new employees, but they do not need access to Jira and bug tracking stuff. According to the account management, we can add the necessary seats to Confluence alone. So, really, I have two questions.

  1. Can anyone confirm that we can increase the seats for Confluence without increasing the seats for Jira?
  2. How do we let a user access Confluence without a Jira seat?

Thanks.

Hello Daniel,

I am not 100% sure what you mean with seats, do you mean those counting towards your license?

About your second question, it is possibe to grant access to one of the applications only, for this you need to got to
admin section>General Tab>User Management>Application Access.
There you will find a list of the users and you can tick to which application a specific user should have access to.

If you now have 50 license for JIRA and a 50 license for Confluence and you grant user A only access to JIRA, this one license will be deducted, so you still have 50 Confluence and 49 JIRA seats left.

I hope I understood correctly :)

Regards,

Yvonne
