Anchors to different page are not working

Lisa Scheuplein April 10, 2018

I create an anchor on a page using the macro, for example #beach and I follow directions on the page we are linking from to say (page name#beach). It just lands on top of page. This is becoming very aggravating. It should work fine and yes it is within the same space.

I need to omit the # symbol in the anchor macro.

Hi Lisa,

could you please give us the exact anchor definition, the page name  and the link to the anchor. As you said, it should work, but without further information, it is not possible to say, what is going wrong.

My site is not external. Here is what I did.

I created an Anchor using the macro on a page #beach. This link is below the fold of the page. I copied the page name so it would be exact.

On the page to link from. I highlight a word, went to link, selected Advanced, pasted the page name and added #beach to it. Saved the page. So it conformed to current directions. pagename#beach.

I tested page, refreshed page, cleaned my cookies. Still only delivers me to top of page.

This is working for me in Confluence 6.7.0:

  • create a page "page-with-anchor"
  • put a lot of lines to the page and then
  • add the anchor "anchorname" to the bottom of the page
  • save it
  • create a page "link-to-anchor"
  • add a web link to the page: http://<confluence-url>/display/<spacekey>/page-with-anchor#page-with-anchor-anchorname
  • add an advanced link to the page: page-with-anchor#anchorname
  • save it

Both links are working. The link links to the anchor.
