there might be a few reasons why you're getting this error. I don't know exactly how you've setup authentication, but if you've linked Confluence to the Jira Directory then it might be an issue with this.

It might also be because a setting has changed on Confluence since you've upgraded, if the IP has changed for example you'll need to update it in the whilelist in Jira :
