Adding shaded area in Gantt Chart

Meret
July 23, 2026

Hi everyone,

I am using Table Filter, Charts & Spreadsheets for Confluence and have created a Gantt Chart using the "Chart from Table" macro.

I would like to highlight a specific phase (e.g. Hypercare) from October to February across the entire timeline with a shaded or hatched background area.

Is this possible with the Gantt chart type? If yes, what is the recommended approach?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @meret,

This is controlled by Table Filter, Charts & Spreadsheets for Confluence, not by Confluence Data Center itself. I do not see a documented option in Chart from Table for adding a shaded or hatched date range across the full Gantt background.

The closest supported alternatives are:

  • Add two Event entries at the start and end of Hypercare. These will mark October and February with vertical lines across the timeline.
  • Add Hypercare as a separate phase or task with its start and end dates, then assign that bar a distinct color.

Neither option creates a full-height background band. If that visualization is essential, confirm whether it is supported in your installed app version or submit a feature request through the app's Atlassian Marketplace page.
