Add only as a permission

Stop The Traffik August 4, 2021

Is it possible for a permission to be set so that a user can submit a page/document but not view anything in the space? This would work essentially as portal for submitting only.

Welcome to the community.

No, the add page / edit page functions can only be used by people who can see the space.

Best you can do is have two (or several) pages at the top level of your space, one with no restrictions so that anyone can see and hence add pages to it, and another with a view restriction set to only the people who should be able to see everything.

Your creating users will only be able to create (and edit) stuff under the open page, but they'll be able to see and edit everyones submissions (unless the creator remembers to set their own restrictions on it)

Hi @Stop The Traffik  There is not such permission in Confluence. When you granted them Add page permission, they automatically get permission to view that page, as they are the owner of that page.

Yes, you can hide page for other users on which they are not owner or creator.

So there is no way for a user submit a page that only a moderator/admin could see?

What I am thinking is a user submits a page - it is automatically hidden from everyone apart from the admin - admin can then analyse the page - then they can decide who can see it

would that be possible?

Hi @Stop The Traffik ,

Thanks for posting and welcome the community.

The below restrictions are not available in free plan.

I think you should refer this guide there are 3 different permission can be set  - https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/add-or-remove-page-restrictions/

  • Anyone can view and edit
  • Anyone can view, some can edit
  • Only specific people can view or edit

So, if you try  for only specific people can view and edit i.e. the third one, select can edit but not view.

Please accept the answer if it solves your query else respond and allow others to share input.

Cheers

Hi Suvradip,

I was asking if its available of the paid version as we are considering upgrading. On the paid version would such a function be possible?

Hi @Stop The Traffik ,

Thanks for your quick response.

It was not mentioned in your original post about the plans so I mentioned that all of these restrictions customizations are available not available on free plan and as mentioned above I think the third option only solves your purpose.

Please go through it and let me know.

Cheers

I would also request you to go through this for Space  Permissions - https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/what-are-space-permissions/

Cheers
