A database is useless without the ability to actually use the data. At the moment the only way we can display database data outwith the database itself is with the embed options.
The current embed options are of limited value for two reasons:
1) They're overly "nested" with superfluous headings, titles and tables surrounding the data. This is especially true when you embed a value as it's layout adds a useless amount of tables when I literally just want to inline include the name of a system or related property in some text or table.
2) The very nature of an embed means that the first page has to load, then the embedded page or pages load. Want to create a page that references many aspects of your data? Have fun waiting for all those embeds to load! This is especially tiresome on staff issued devices that have trouble loading one page at a time let alone five.
To me, this goes hand in hand with improving the API access to data in databases, but I need to be careful what I wish for because even with API access our organisation would have a hard time capitalising on that as we don't allow plugins.
We need general improvements to the built in features and functionality for embedding natively.
EDIT: Siiigh... it's also today I find out that this "place to discuss Confluence databases, share feedback, report bugs..." is apparently not the place to report bugs... maybe? Because this JIRA board also exists: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-79661
Ehhhh that's exactly how we're using them... please tell me this isn't an update and actually just a bug!
Have you tried re-embedding it again? Given the description of embed option for databases is currently "Display an existing database, entry or value" I can't believe it's meant to work like that?? Unless "Confluence Databases" is the entry and you're just using it as an example? Which regardless, I still can't believe it's meant to work like that!
Hello @Anne Saunders! I'm sorry about the issues you are experiencing. Could you confirm that the embedded entry has "Embed" as the option?
