Community release notes for December 19, 2025

Coming soon: Early in the new year, we’ll be sharing a 2025 year-in-review: a look at the feedback you shared, what we’ve already improved, what we know is still painful, and what we’re planning to improve in the future.

We’ve got a lot more lined up for 2026, and we’ll keep you updated right here in the Community Announcements group.

Huge thanks to all our members for your contributions this year. Happy holidays and a Happy New Year!

We’ve made a minor update in our last 2025 release.

Profile:

Fixed: Adding a bio to your profile now displays it on your author card in articles and your profile card on the forums homepage.

We’re continuing to work on a fix so you can update all remaining fields on your profile and author card. Thank you for your patience while we work to resolve this.

If you have questions or feedback, please leave them in the comments below.

Hi @SilkeS

Happy holidays!  Thanks for the update, and I look forward to the continued improvements!

With this change, it appears the collision of our two profiles (from before the big profile-reorg a couple of years ago) is partially resolved.  Specifically...

  • my short bio with my original profile that displayed with articles is gone; as I did not have one in the new profile it now shows as empty
  • there are still two, current position values: the one on the current profile page only displays there and the original position value shows on articles and the forums home page for each person

Can you confirm if the different profiles are still being reconciled before I make any changes?  Thanks!

Kind regards,
Bill

+1 to what Bill said!

Love being able to have context on a user without having to click into their profile! Our time isn't wasted updating our profiles. 🤣😉

Hi @Bill Sheboy ,

Thanks for calling this out and for the helpful detail.

Right now, the author and profile cards only pull in the new bio field and don’t automatically use any pre-existing bios. I just confirmed with our engineering team that they can add a fallback: if the new bio field is empty, we’ll use the older bio (if one exists) instead.

We’re currently in a code freeze until early January, but I’ll open a ticket so this adjustment can be made once the freeze is over. I don’t have a firm ETA for this work, so it’s entirely up to you whether you’d like to go ahead and update your bio now, or wait until that fallback behavior is in place.

For the position, company, and location values: our engineers are still working on making sure updates to those fields on your profile page are also reflected on the profile and author cards. That work didn’t quite make it into the last release, but it’s planned to be fixed in January.

Thank you again for your patience (and for stress-testing this so thoroughly!). It really helps us improve the experience.

Hi, and thanks for the updates, @SilkeS

I recall the new profile has shorter field lengths than the old one, so that may be a helpful reminder for any fallback scenarios attempted.  I will try updating the new profile and see what happens.

Thanks to you and the team, and happy holidays!
