Hello,
On August 21, 2026, I completely rewrote and force-pushed all repository branches to remove large generated files from Git history.
Before cleanup:
- Bitbucket reported size: 420.3 MB
- Reachable local pack: approximately 417.46 MiB
After cleanup:
- Rewritten reachable pack: approximately 71.6 MiB
- Reduction verified locally: approximately 83%
- All 35 remote branches were successfully replaced
After several days, Bitbucket still reports 420.3 MB.
Could an Atlassian staff member please check whether hidden pull-request refs are retaining the previous history and arrange a server-side garbage collection?
I can provide the exact workspace and repository identifiers privately to an Atlassian staff member.
Hi @tomy29
Welcome to the community.
I've run Git GC against the remote repository and it is now reduced to 342.8 MB.
Could you check the same from your end?
Regards,
Mark C
Hi @tomy29 ,
I'll ping the forum support team to take a look at this. Someone should get back to you within 1-2 business days. 👀
Cheers,
Tobi
