Recently my workspace has been deleted.

I would like to create a new workspace with the same name, but the Bitbucket web page reports:

"This workspace ID is taken. Try another ID."

How can I reclaim the workspace with the name I recently used?

Hi @stefan2109 and welcome to the community!

It takes 30 days for the workspace to be fully deleted and for the ID to become available again.

I could rename the deleted workspace so that you can reuse the ID, but I don't see any deleted workspaces associated with your Atlassian organization.

Do you still see the deleted workspace in https://admin.atlassian.com/ when you select Products from the top menubar?

Is this perhaps a workspace you created and deleted with a different Bitbucket account?

Kind regards,
Theodora

No, I can't see the deleted workspace and the workspace was initially created with the same account.

Renaming an existing workspace (Change workspace ID) to my username doesn't work either.

The Bitbucket response is: This workspace ID is not available.

Can you check why this doesn't work?

Kind regards,

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Creating a workspace with an ID that is the same as the username of an existing Bitbucket Cloud account is not supported at the moment. We have a feature request to provide this option here:

If you want to use your own username as a workspace ID, you will need to change your username first to something different (e.g. if you want to use myworkspace, you can change your username to myworkspace-admin).

If you want to use a workspace ID different than your username, I'm afraid I cannot change the ID of a workspace for which you are not listed as admin in our system. The ID should be available again 30 days after the workspace's deletion.

Kind regards,
Theodora

Hi @stefan2109

Welcome to the community.

If it has been only a short time since the deletion, you may need to wait until Bitbucket releases it for reuse.
