migrate Mecurial to get

ShannonRamirez August 20, 2019

I just got an email that Atlassian is shutting down Mecurial support.  I've been looking but haven't found a great resource that tells me how to migrate to Git.   Perhaps i'm using the wrong search phrase.  Can anyone helpout.

thanks

shannon

Hi Shannon,

There are many export tools available, but two of the most popular are
hg-fast-export and hg-git. They are not the only ones, and each of them offers a different conversion approach, so we recommend researching multiple tools to determine which tool best supports your setup. I'd also recommend you read the Git documentation Migrating to Git. In addition, I've found some blog posts where they explain how to migrate from Mercurial to Git, some examples are How to migrate and Convert a Mercurial repository to Git.

In case you haven't seen it the Bitbucket Product Manager posted an article in Community and is gathering comments and feedback over this decission, you can read it at What to do with your Mercurial repos when Bitbucket sunsets support.

Let us know if you have any other questions!
