howto enable branch restricted write access to atlassian connect app

Renovate uses Bitbucket Cloud Atlassian Connect app. I would like to restrict write access for a repository, and allow the renovate connect app to bypass this restriction. However as the connect app is not identified as a user/group I'm unable to assign.

Please advise how I can do this?

Hi Bob,

Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to assign branch restrictions to anything that is not a registered Bitbucket Cloud user - so there is no workaround for your use case at this stage.

We have an open feature request ticket logged with our developers to include this functionality, please feel free to Watch and Vote for this to improve its visibility with regard to customer demand:
