cannot scroll down when viewing source files without clicking the file

When looking at file within bitbucket such as

https://bitbucket.org/sydh/avpy/src/master/avpy/av.py

I try to press "page down" or other scrolling keys, but they have no effect. I have to click somewhere within the element that displays the source code before "page down" causes it to scroll.

I thought maybe this was due to all of the extensions I run in chromium (e.g. vimium), but I tried it with a clean profile and also in firefox and it was the same.

This is very annoying, as I prefer not to use the mouse to scroll (or for anything, if I can help it). I tried to find some way to modify the default method of displaying stuff in my user settings, but I couldn't find any (obvious) way to change it.

Is there any way of fixing this so I can scroll normally? I mean, short of heroic measures like injecting custom javascript into the page.

Hello Daniel and welcome to the Community.

The Web UI for Bitbucket cloud does have multiple focal points which do rely on the use of a mouse. I was able to find that you can shift + tab (5 times in chrome) to get to the scroll bar and engage the scroll bar by pressing the spacebar. Once the scroll bar is active you can then navigate via PAGE UP/PAGE DOWN as needed.

Additionally, if you feel this should be an option to navigate without a mouse we would suggest submitting this feedback and idea via a feature request within Bitbucket. Please navigate to Create issue and fill out the required information to submit a request. If you do submit a request please link it back to this post so others may find it.

I hope this information proves helpful and provides some clarification on the navigation issues.

Regards,
Stephen Sifers
