Workspace invitation email never arrives, cancelled and resent twice

I cannot join a Bitbucket workspace because the invitation email never arrives.

What has already been tried:

The workspace admin sent an invitation, then cancelled it and issued a new one from the user groups page. Neither arrived.

I have searched my whole mailbox including spam and trash. There is no invitation email from Bitbucket at any point.

My Atlassian email preferences had Product Invitations switched off. I turned it on, and the admin sent another invitation afterwards. That one did not arrive either.

Other Bitbucket email does reach the same address. I received Bitbucket product email on 28 August and again today, addressed to my account name, so delivery to this address works in general.

My Bitbucket account settings look correct. The account address is my university address, there are no email aliases, email notifications are enabled, and "My access to a repository or a workspace changing" is ticked. There is no in-app notification either, and my workspace list is still empty.

Two questions. Is there anything on the Atlassian side that would suppress invitation email to one specific address while still allowing other Bitbucket email through to it? And is there a way for an admin to grant workspace access that does not depend on an invitation email being delivered?

The account address is a university Google Workspace address, in case that is relevant.

Hi @ggb46

I can see that you've enabled product invitations on 29/08/2026, so that part is done. I can also see that you're not on any internal suppression list.

The workspace admin, however, needs to ensure that every single invitation to every single resource that they have attempted to add you to needs to be cancelled first before a new invitation is sent as per our documentation:

This is due to a bug which is outlined in the following bug ticket:

Once they've confirmed every single invite for your account has been cancelled from all groups/repos/projects etc - only then can they resend it - this will generate and transmit an email.

If you're still having issues after this - please let me know your timezone so I may raise a ticket on your behalf.

Cheers!

Everything seems to be working now. I got my invite today. Thank you!

Hello @ggb46

ask your mail administrator to check their mail-delivery logs for those senders, not just your Spam/Junk folders. Also, try one Bitbucket-side test.

Instead of canceling the invitation again, ask the Workspace Admin to open and resend the pending invitation. This action can clear the address from their internal email suppression list before trying delivery again.

@Daniel Ebers @ggb46

I also flagged this Post, so if he really on suppression list, somebody from Atlassian Team will answer.

Thanks both. An update since your replies.

The workspace admin removed the invitation, confirmed I was no longer listed, and sent a fresh one. It has not arrived, and there is nothing in spam or trash.

One detail that seems to support the suppression idea: other Atlassian mail reaches this address without any trouble. The notification emails for your two replies on this thread arrived, along with a Bitbucket marketing message the same day. The workspace invitation is the only thing that never shows up.

Arek, on your point about resending rather than cancelling, that exact option has not been tried yet. Everything so far has been cancel and reissue, so I will ask about it. I have also asked our mail administrator to check the delivery logs and tell me whether these messages were attempted and rejected, or never attempted at all.

Thanks for flagging the post. If someone from Atlassian can check whether this address is on a suppression list, that would settle it.

Hi @ggb46

similar requests in the past suggested the mail address could be on a so called 'suppression list', Atlassian-side - caused (presumably) due to non-delivery errors during invite.

It's a theory, though - but the Bitbucket admin could double check with Atlassian support. There are several similar reports here in Atlassian Community. Here is a random-picked one:
