Why can't I be both a user and a team leader (same email address)?

I assumed that I would be able to create a login for myslef as team administrator, and a separate login for myself as developer. So the team login name would be MyTeamName, and the develoer name would be MyName. But there seems to be no way to create two different user names which have the same email address? Is there a way around this problem?

If you use JIRA Internal Directory this is possible. What type of User Directory you're using ? That might be the reason why you're not able to create two users with the same email address. Please provide more details about the user directory type.
