Hi all

Whenever I try to push or pull using Sourcetree though HTTPS, I receive a warning stating my username or password are invalid. Noteable: pushing and pulling still works.

You might think that's not an issue. Unfortunately, after pushing or pulling a few times, I receive the 'too many invalid password attempts'-warning, making it unable for me to do push or pull, meaning I can't do my job. This also happens to my coworkers.

I searched through Google already, and tried the following:

- changing my password
- logging out of and back in to Sourcetree
- removing my Keychain Access entries for Sourcetree

I've already contacted BitBucket support, and they suggested to:
- login to the Atlassian ID portal and BitBucket to see if that fixed the issue
- log out of and back in to Sourcetree
- check out my branch (which I didn't, since I already have my project set up; I did check out another project from our repository, but this project also throws the same warning)
- create an app password (I was unable to log in using this)
- try to push and pull using the command line (which works)

None of those fixed the issue. They referred me here since they're convinced it's a Sourcetree related issue.

I noticed this morning there was an update to Sourcetree from 2 days ago related to authentication. This also did not solve my issue.

Does anyone have any idea what's happening or how to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards

Sander

Hi Sander,

Our apologies for the hassle. What version are you using currently?

Thanks,

Hi Brian

I'm currently using Sourcetree v2.7.3.

Since it's been a month since I posted this issue, I tried the only solution I hadn't before: switch to using the system Git, instead of the embedded Git. That solved the issue.

It seems to issue if related to the Git version shipped with Sourcetree.

Kind regards
Sander
