Underlying git operation for "show deleted files"

What backend git operation does Fisheye/Crucible use to show/hide deleted files? I can't seem to find this anywhere in the git documentation.

I figure it might just be a result of the tool's index of the repository, but if there's a way to do that from the command line I'd be really interested to learn how.

There isn't one -- Fisheye uses its index for that.
