The backup client will not restore to the database that was backed up, because it is unsupported

We are trying to migrate our Bitbucket installation, but are having some problems with it.  We are trying to roll back, but the client will not restore the backup it made, because the version of Postgres is not supported (8.4).  This is of course absolutely crazy that it won't restore, especially since nowhere can I see anything that warns about this behavior.  Is there a command line option that will force the restore?  We fully intend to migrate, but we need time to pursue a different path.

Hi, Steve!

You can upgrade Postgres to a supported version and the restore will work. Alternatively, you can use a different database as far as it's in our supported list. For a list of supported platforms, you can check this article.

Let us know if you have any questions!

Because I was forced to, I found a way to hobble along.  The fact remains that not being able to restore to the database from which the backup was made is absurd and unexpected, particularly since there was no warning along the way.
