Tag [TOC] broken in Bitbucket Cloud Wiki?

We are using Bitbucket cloud and have a large wiki in there. We write the wiki in Markdown format. For years, we could get a table of contents by typing

[TOC]

just as the documentation describes.

However, since some time (I don't know exactly when), this seems to be broken; now instead of a table of contents, I only see the literal text [TOC].

Are we doing something wrong? Or is it indeed broken?

a year passed, still  the TOC is still broken (?) :/
