Syntax Highlighting in Markdown code blocks

Is there any way to get syntax highlighted code blocks in the stash markdown source view?

I've tried github style ```ruby and bitbucket style: ```#!python

There is an open feature request for syntax highlighted code blocks at https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/STASH-3782.
