Setting up branch permissions with BitBucket Cloud

We are using BitBucket cloud and we have multiple repos and multiple branches per repo. I want to set the branch permissions using REST APIs as manual configuration is going to be tedious and error prone. Appreciate if you can point me to any references to sample calls if it is supported

Please note that the API is called as "Ref restriction"
