SSO Jira Bitbucket

Jonathan Wong October 4, 2018

I 've a technical question and would like to seek your advice. In our university , there are around 1xx users are using the Jira Bitbucket which is free (Academic institution). Now, if I implement Jira Issue Tracking solution with Single Sign On feature , all these 1xx users will be impacted . They 've been register their account for using Jira Bitbucket before. I understand if we need to configure SSO, we should indicate the domain stuff in Cloud configuration. Please advice how to overcome this issue without impact to these 1xx users.

Thank you very much.

Hi Jonathan, welcome to the Community!

I don't fully understand to which impact are you referring to, could you elaborate a bit more? What do you mean exactly?

Also, which SSO solution will you use?

Let us know!

Hi Ana,

We've tried to configure the SAML in the cloud platform but around 1xx users are using Jira Bitbucket can't login after we turn-on the SAML.   These 1xx users are registered with @ust.hk email domain.

I think it's because Atlassian offers free services to the academic and that’s why users registered their University account.   The question is how these 1xx users can use their original free service once SAML has been setup.

Hope it's clear of the symptoms.
