Hello,
We have been working within BitBucket on a specifc repository for quite some time now... as in years. And just very recently, it seems that BitBucket no longer creates and sends automated emails when new issues are created or when existing issues are updated.
This is not specifically just to one email address (or one email domain). We have at least 3 people actively using the BB Issues facility and each of those three people have completely different email addresses. But no-one is getting the notification emails any more, and it's making it VERY difficult to track and fix issues without having to constantly and randomly logging into BB via the browser and manually checking if there's been any updates.
The last email we received from "issues-reply@bitbucket.org" was on the 21st of May 2026... if this is part of the slow closing down of BB as Atlassian tries to push people towards paid subscription services, it has not been mentioned that we're aware of.
Regards,
m.
Hello and welcome to Atlassian Community @tanner2272
Check the repository's Mailing list (under Issues) for new ticket alerts, and have users verify their personal notification and watch settings for updates.
Because multiple email domains are affected, it's likely a technical glitch and definitely not an intentional push toward paid tiers. If all configurations look correct, you'll need Atlassian Support to check their outbound delivery logs.
Best,
Arkadiusz 🤠☀️
Hello @tanner2272,
Thanks for reaching out with comprehensive details of the symptoms you're experiencing.
The notifications you're no longer receiving is part of the sunsetting of Bitbucket Issues and Wikis, in favour of more robust solutions like Jira.
The following notifications are among those that have been removed:
Issue Created / Issue Updated
Issue Create Mention / Issue Comment Mention
Issue Import/Export status
Wiki and Snippet notifications
Because these features are being phased out, the associated email notifications are no longer being sent by the product. You can find more details regarding the sunset of Bitbucket Issues and Wikis in our announcement: Announcing sunset of Bitbucket Issues and Wikis.
Workarounds and Recommendations:
We understand this change impacts your workflow, and we recommend the following alternatives to stay updated on repository activity:
Slack Integration: If your team uses Slack, you can subscribe a channel to repository activity. Our tests confirm that "Issue created," "Issue assigned," and "Issue updated" events are still delivered successfully via the Integrate Bitbucket Cloud with Slack | Bitbucket Cloud | Atlassian Support.
Jira Service Management/Jira Software: For a more comprehensive issue-tracking experience with full notification support, you can also consider migrating your issue tracking to Jira.
Webhooks: You can set up Bitbucket Cloud Webhooks to trigger on issue events. These can be used with external tools to generate your own email notifications. This is slightly complicated as you need to use external services.
