We took this over from another developer. He has decided he no longer will help us. We need someone who can get our site backonline asap. Any help is appreciated.
Hi @Patrick Spence,
Welcome to the Atlassian Community.
What kind of help are you looking for? Are you having issues with Bitbucket or are you just trying to learn how to use it?
kind both. Our site is down and we just found out the past developer was using Bitbucket. We really are not sure how to use it and how he had it setup.

Depending on what web service you are running on, there seems to be different solutions for it, here is what I found when doing a quick Google search.
To get a good overview of Bitbucket I would start with is Get started with Bitbucket Cloud.

ok thank you.
Also, one other thing I noticed in the main host folder it has "releases" and a "current" folder. I cannot access the "current" folder. Does this make sense?

If you cannot access the current folder that would indicate to me that your developer changed the permission on it. Git does not care about permissions, and Bitbucket only adds permissions to the repository on the Bitbucket side.
