Merge Bitbucket and Atlassian Accounts

I created a Bitbucket account a long time ago and didn't use it for a while. Trying to log in today, I was sent to the Atlassian login page where I could not enter a user name but only an email address. With this address my password no longer worked (possibly the old Bitbucket account was associated with a different address), so I requested a recovery link and reset the password. In the next step I was asked to pick a Bitbucket username. Of course I entered the one of my old account but was told that it's already in use. So I had to choose a new username and ended up with an Atlassian/Bitbucket account that does not have access to the repositories belonging to the old Bitbucket account. How can I regain access to these repositories now?
